'No service' problem

Hello,
I got an iphone 3GS for myself from US. I have unlocked it with the help of a service man near my house. the phone has been unlocked it detects my vodafone sim but for every 2 or 3 mins it says no service and all the calls are disconnected. Can any one help me out with this.Pls its urgent im unable to sort it out by myself n im missing all my calls.Do reply if any one knws how to solve this problem

Is it unlocked by baseband,unlocked by carrier, or factory unlocked

Most likely it's unlocked by ultrasn0w since a local guy cannot factory unlock or have AT&T unlock. You might have to reinstall everything from scratch
