Yahoo Sports reports today on a rather unusual reason that has been given for an NBA player incurring an injury that has been serious enough to affect his play last season.

The player in question is San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner, who was apparently troubled with a painful elbow in his non-shooting arm last season.

Bonner says that he knows exactly what caused the injury, his iPhone 6!
“Everybody is going to find this hilarious,” Bonner told the Concord Monitor, “but here’s my theory on how I got it [the injury]. When the new iPhone came out it was way bigger than the last one, and I think because I got that new phone it was a strain to use it, you have to stretch further to hit the buttons, and I honestly think that’s how I ended up developing it.”

And as far-fetched as it sounds, Spurs training staff told the Concord Monitor that this is not the first time that they’ve heard of players getting injured from using their phones too much.
