Mic cuting out during call iphone 4

Hi all

I have a iphone 4 model MC603b firmwear 5.1 (9b176) carrier giffgaff (02)

when making a call or reciving one the mic cut out after a few seconds or doesnt work at all. been told in a private shop that its sno good replacing mic due to it working at times it must be a softwear problem.

Happens to me when I answer the phone with my left hand.Darn thing mutes itself without me knowing.Very annoying.I think the problem is not holding the phone tight enough to my ear,causing it not to "dim".

If it's your mic for speaker phone, a buddy's was like that on his 4 and he took it to the Apple Store - they changed out the phone and it works great on his new one.
