Lost contacts

I installed the IOS 7.0.4 update and all of my contacts disappeared.
I restarted the phone and computer and part of the contacts returned but not all.
Also the favorites in the phone list are just numbers now.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try a hard reset? Press the top power button and the home button at the same time til the Apple logo appears. And did you have your contacts backed up to iCloud and/or iTunes?
