Lost contacts

Last week I noticed I had a number in my favorites, but no name attached. I looked at that contact and sure enough, that name had no information.

This happened to more than half my contacts. I tried restoring my contacts from the sim, but nothing changed. My contacts are also missing on my Pc. I sync my phone everyday.

Anyone know a way to get my contacts back. Is there some other way I should be saving my contacts besides syncing?

You might consider restoring one of your previous backups made when you were having all your contacts all present in your phone, that can help you recover all your contacts but you will lose all data which was on your phone after you created the backup.
