I watched his performance in the Calgary Winter Olympics on TV and I'm amazed that he was not seriously hurt. Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards - Wikipedia
The 1988 winter Olympics also featured the first appearance of the Jamaican bobsled team whose performance was dramatized in the movie Cool Runnings, which bore little resemblance to the actual events.

Worth watching, because of Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci and other supporting actors. Almost the same as the animated film, with two or three additional songs.
