2018 iPhones to have bigger capacity battery.JPG

According to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, via MacRumors, Apple’s 2018 iPhone line up could have up to 10% more battery power.

Kuo says that Apple and LG Chem are working together on a one-cell design for the iPhone’s L-shaped battery, which would replace the current two-cell battery in the iPhone X. By using a one-cell battery that takes up less space, Apple should be able to increase the battery’s capacity from the iPhone X’s 2716 mAh to between 2900 and 3000 mAh.

According to Kuo, Apple will launch a bigger, 6.5-inch OLED iPhone, a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone, and a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone in 2018, but he thinks that the bigger OLED model will still have a two-cell battery, although due to its size, it should still have a battery capacity of between 3300 to 3400 mAh.

Kuo adds that Apple needs to find some way of getting more battery life for the three new iPhones as all three of them will have a TrueDepth Camera for FaceID, which requires more power.
