jailbreak and password in iTunes

HI..
when i made my backup prior to attempting jb, it made me set a password - now it won't let me jb until I remove the password in iTunes. How do I do this?

Restore the phone, set up as a new iPhone, jailbreak and then restore from backup

that should work, but now I'm curious.. who or why did they make you set a password? I didn't have to do that... are you mac or pc?

There should be a box in the summary tab called "encrypt iPhone backup". Uncheck that box.

I had to set a password for work requirements - using a pc. I was unable to uncheck the encrypt iPhone back up because of the work requirement and MobileIron.
