No it isn't waterproof, if you get it wet you will trigger the moisture censors and invalidate the warranty.

very handy having waterproof, I really thought apple would add this to the iPhone, maybe they are waiting to develop it more so you can take it further then a meter

First off the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is not waterproof. Not even close. It is merely water resistant for less than 30 minutes when at a submerged depth of less than 1 meter (3 feet).

The reason for this is very simple. The speaker and microphone grills are only able to withstand the pressure of water trying to enter for a very short period of time. In fact if you take a S4 Active to 3 meters of depth (9 feet) it will fail in under 60 seconds. Probably closer to 30 seconds.

There are NO waterproof phones on the market. It does not exist. As long as we use magnet based speakers and microphones, this fact will never change.

I believe the first closes phone was the Casio commando series phones. But it was still only for 30 minutes.
