When Apple announced the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, we knew both devices would have larger batteries than predecessors. Higher capacity batteries mean that the devices will take longer to charge than ones seen in devices like the iPhone 5S.

According to a MacRumors forum member, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are capable of faster charging by using an iPad charging adapter, instead of the standard 1A/5W block found in the box. The iPad 2.1A/12W charger draws 12W as oppose to 5W with the iPhone 6 charger in the box. The folks over a MacRumors used a Kill-A-Watt device to measure the outputs and claim that using the iPad charging adapter can charge an iPhone 6 Plus fully in about 2 hours.

This is all great news since I have an iPad charger laying around somewhere and have noticed slow charging speeds with my iPhone 6 Plus. iPad chargers are fairly inexpensive, around $20-30 for a decent one, and should make a great investment for those who need a quick charge.
