Ipad + textmessages

I can't seem to get my iMessage to work. I have updated my iPhone and ipad2 to ios5. But I can't send a textmessage from my iPad??...

Are they to another device that is registered with iMessage?

Go to your settings > messages > iMessage and set to on...

It uses your email address , you can only text ( iMessage ) from iPad to iPhone that are using os5

I agree with tintbob, the iPad isn't capable of sending regular texts messages. There will probably be an app that will allow you to do that...

Yes, Text for Free or something similar will allow you to send regular text messages to any other device. iMessage only works between iDevices running iOS 5, as stated above.
