Imessage wont activate on ios 5.1

Imessage wont activate on my number or email adress. Same problem with facetime. Does anyone know why and how to fix it?

Yes because it used to work on my iphone 4.. Then i got an iphone 4s imessage and facetime. I think it stopped working when i upgraded to ios 5.1

Did you turn them on?

Yeah and then it says imessage failed to activate

This worked for me:

1. Set up the email address you want to use

2. Check you email's and click the confirmation link and follow the steps

3. Go back onto your device and in the message setting, your email will still say verifying

4. Click the account and you will have two options, resend and (I forgot the other one) and click resend. This doesn't actually resend it just activates it

If not, reboot and try again.
