Having problems with connection of the phone port .Have to jiggle it to get it to respond

Usually, the iPhone port fits pretty exactly. Take a closer look at it. Maybe there's debris or lint, preventing it to respond as expected. If so, remove it with a soft tooth brush that hasn't been used before. Do so very cautiously.
