Yahoo! Tech has a great article today about how some photographers are managing to make serious amounts of money by taking photos for posting on Instagram.
According to Yahoo! Tech, there are now many photographers, such as those at the company the Mobile Media Lab, who are paid by brands to coordinate and execute paid promotional campaigns on Instagram.
Photographer Brian DiFeo and his business partner Anthony Danielle launched the Mobile Media Lab almost three years ago, and in that time have built up a network of around 400 independent Instagrammers, with followings starting at 10,000 and ending at 500,000, making a combined audience of approximately 60 million.
Some of the big name brands that have hired the Mobile Media Lab include the likes of Timex, Stoli, Expedia, and Puma.
New agencies such as Digital Media Management have also sprung up to act as brokers between brands and celebrities to arrange Instagram-specific campaigns. And the more followers a celebrity or social influencer gets, the more money they can command for a campaign. All very interesting stuff, and all thanks to one little app that started on iPhone!
