duplicate pictures in camera roll on iPhone 4s

why do I have duplicate picture in my camera roll for every picture I take with my iPhone? can this be avoided? or must I delete duplicates? Thanks

Open the camera app and press options, from there turn HDR off this will stop the duplicates

Or if you like the HDR pics you can go to settings -> Photos -> HDR -> Keep Normal Photo -> Off
