Anyone out there thinking that carrying an iPhone case shaped like a gun is a good idea should possibly think again, as this story out of Canada reported by the Daily Telegraph bears out.

According to the Winnipeg Sun, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were called to a public beach near Winnipeg, Canada, when a man was seen with a handgun-shaped iPhone case tucked into his shorts.

The RCMP confronted the 34-year-old man with rifles and tasers prior to discovering that the suspected gun was in fact something as harmless as phone case.

When confronted by the police, the man handed over the case, and will not be facing charges.

RCMP sergean Bert Paquet said of the incident, “Unfortunately some people do not realize the risks associated with openly carrying or displaying these replicas in a public space. Anyone who owns this type or similar devices should safely dispose of them immediately.”

With the restrictive handgun laws we have in Canada, he should have known better. He's lucky he only lost his iPhone case.

This would be a dumb product in almost any country in the world, even the USA.
