Can I get birthdays & invitations synced from Facebook to my iphone off my calendar?

I just got an iPhone 4S this week and when I logged onto Facebook with it I was asked if I wanted to sign into Facebook using my Apple ID. Not knowing any better I figured, "Why not?". Now the calendar in my iphone is loaded with TONS of birthdays and invitations from everyone that I am friends with on Facebook. I use my calendar in my phone strictly for logging business and personal appointments and this is going to cause a lot of confusion if I can't get them off. I tried clicking on them in my calendar and looking for the "delete" button like a normal appointment that I would type in manually would have but there is no delete button. Is there a way for me to delete these posts without having to do a complete restore on my phone or without deleting everything on my calendar?

I think if you update to 6.0 it automatically does it for you. I have been getting messages for weeks now.
