calls in and out

All of a sudden I can't make or receive calls on my iphone
I can ring out and it sounds like it is ringing but can't talk to anyone and the same when I receive a call, seems like I can answer it but there is no one there
Any ideas?

I would call your Provider straight away, even if it is only to check that no-one else has accessed your account.

What happens if you restart the iPhone? Do the signal strength bars appear to be acting normally? Have you tried removing and reinserting the SIM card?

And check the mute button on the side of the phone
