audio equalizer?

New to the whole apple experience; still learning my way around an iphone 7. Its... different than the Android and Windows phones I've had, but not experiencing anything jumping out at me that is greatly better or worse.

My biggest concern right now is sound quality. I realize that MP3 isn't expected to be great sound, but this thing sounds like a transistor radio circa 1963.

Using Spotify, the same song in the same playlist through the same radio using the same bluetooth receiver, music from the iphone is anemic at best in comparison to what I hear using my old Galaxy S5.

Is there an equalizer buried somewhere in the iphone menu? Or is this normal behavior?

The setting for EQ is under Music in Settings.
