It’s certainly been a long time coming, but according to Mashable, it looks like Apple’s HomePod smart speaker will be available to the public within the next few days, based on the fact that it has just been approved for sale by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

Meanwhile, 9to5 Mac reports that Filipe Esposito has been digging around in the newest iOS 11.2.5 build and has found some HomePod icons that reveal some interesting details about the forthcoming smart speaker.

For example, one icon revealed by Esposito showed a HomePod next to a muted Siri glyph, and some other icons have the text “siri-off,” indicating that there will be specific scenarios where you can mute “Hey Siri.” Other icons show the intriguing combination of a frying pan, complete with egg, next to a bucket of popcorn. There’s also an icon with the microphone muted next to an emergency siren symbol, which is pretty self-explanatory. Esposito also found evidence that Siri will support multiple different voices, meaning that different people in the household could control the speaker using Siri and have their own profiles.

Not long to wait until we find out what the HomePod is all about, hopefully!
