Well I guess the rumor mill overshot it a little. On Wednesday we heard reports that Apple was bringing its own Apple Store app extension to the Apple Watch at some point this summer. However in a Friday update the Apple Store iPhone app, Apple Watch support was added as a new feature.

The Apple Store app for the Watch is very minimal, but somewhat useful. The Watch app is summarized into three separate tabs, which users can navigate by swiping on the display.

The first tab shows a list of retail Apple Store locations around the area. The second tab displays a scrollable list of available workshops. And finally the third tab shows a list of orders you may have made from the Apple Store.

Reiterating, the Apple Watch Apple Store app is very minimalistic and gives users a quick glimpse of what should then be handed-off to view on an iPhone. One cool feature added to the app, is the ability to check in for Genius Bar appointments or get started on a pick up order, which is only available when in a physical Apple Store location.

"The convenience of the Apple Store App on your Apple Watch. Get real-time order status updates, quickly get your pick up order started, check in for Genius Bar reservations and discover nearby in-store events and workshops", writes Apple.

The Apple Store app can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store for free.
