9to5 Mac reports that Apple has said that it is investigating an iPhone 7 Plus that was caught on video catching fire. The video, which was shared on Twitter by the phone’s owner, Brianna Olivas, shows the phone smoking and burning until the case starts melting.

An Apple spokesperson said in a statement to Mashable that Apple has contacted Olivas and is “looking into it.”

Olivas said that she was having problems with her iPhone 7 Plus the day before the phone was filmed catching fire when it wouldn’t turn on. She took it to an Apple Store where Apple employees ran a series of tests and couldn’t find anything wrong with the phone.

The next morning, Olivas’s boyfriend noticed that the phone was smoking when it was being charged, and then a short while later it started squealing and steaming and caught on fire. He threw the phone in the bathroom, where it exploded.

More than likely this is just an isolated incident, but we’ll have to wait and see what Apple finds out from their testing of the device.
