According to a new report from MacRumors today, Apple has announced that all of its worldwide facilities, such as retail stores, offices, and data centres, are now entirely powered by100% clean energy.

The remarkable achievement includes establishing facilities in 43 different countries, including the US, UK, China, and India. Here’s what Apple CEO Tim Cook had to say about the news:

The feat was not achieved without incredible efforts from Apple, with the company investing in, and building, renewable energy plants all over the world, including solar arrays, wind farms, biogas fuel cells, micro-hydration generation systems, and other storage systems.

Apple currently has 25 working renewable energy projects worldwide, representing 626 megawatts of energy generation. In 2017 alone, Apple’s projects saw 286 megawatts of solar PV generated, which is apparently the most ever in 1 year.

Among Apple’s various projects are solar panels on Apple Park’s roof, 485 megawatts of wind and solar facilities in China, and over 300 rooftop solar systems in Japan.

The end result of all of Apple’s hard work in this area is that greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by 54% and over 2.1 million metric tons of CO2e has been stopped from reaching the atmosphere.
