It also cuts costs in that they don’t have to put a charge indicator on the case.

Don't think just do it. On a more serious note you might want to consider getting these for your walkabouts.

I have my iPad cable connected upstairs all the time so it would be convenient to just use that one.

Nope. It doesn't register the battery percentage in the status bar just when you open the case...

Or check the battery widget...

Apparently it isn't recommended to charge AirPods from the mains.

I've had them since the beginning and charge them with the same charger I use for my iPads and iPhone. No issues.

I didn't think I ever would but I caved in

I LOVE mine! LOVE THEM. Use them almost every day. When I'm in the living room and want to watch TV before everyone gets up, I use my Apple TV, and my Airpods. Use them with my iPad in bed while watching Youtube, when I'm on my Macbook Pro, as well as my iMac all the time too. Love them and use them ALL the time!
