Accelerometer not working

I have found that it seems to be disabled if I sync up to my computer. It only works again after I reset the phone... any ideas

Interesting! Is everything else on the device working properly? If so, then perhaps a hard reset could help: press your Home button AND the Power button on top for about 10 seconds -- until you see the Apple logo. Release and let the phone boot up. Get back with us on the results. Thanks.

Tried the hard re set...didn't work. Reset the phone through the preferences and it works but I am back to square one on the phone. When I then reset from the Icloud it doesn't work again.

I FOUND THE ANSWER ON YOUTUBE!!!!
If u have a padlock icon on your status bar with a circular arrow around it, you are locked in portrait mode! This can be turned off by double clicking home button (this will bring up any apps etc you have open) scroll them to the right so the section with the ipod icon play buttons etc a visable, the far icon on the left is the button to toggle this function.

Where are we newbies supposed to learn stuff like this??????
