2018 iPhone line up said to come with 18W USB C charger.jpg

MacRumors reports that ChargerLab has published a render of what it claims to be a new 18W USB-C charger, which it says is set to be included with this year’s iPhone line-up, due to launch in September.

The new adapters, which will enable much faster charging, look rounder than the previous chargers, and will be connected to the iPhones via Lightning to USB-C cables, which will also be bundled with the phones. The current iPhone power adapters are just 5W.

This latest report, which comes via sources “inside the production line,” backs up a previous report on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo that also stated that this year’s three iPhones will be bundled with an 18W USB-C charger and Lightning to USB-C cable.

It’s expected that an 18W power adapter would charge your iPhone approximately twice as fast as the 5W charger that is currently bundled with the latest iPhones. The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X all support fast charging.
