Verizon iPhone will NOT have typical Verizon Bloatware

It has come down the line that part of the deal with Apple is that the iPhone implicitly will NOT have any of the bloatware that many Droid, Blackberry and Palm users must endure. This will be a definite plus to me. I rooted my Droid specifically to get rid of the bloatware. The fact that I won't have to worry about it on the iPhone is fantastic.

I was not aware that Verizon had any of their own software on Androids. I didn't have any Verizon "bloatware" on my HTC Droid Eris. Of course, it had Sense UI installed, but that's HTC, not Verizon.

There is a Verizon section in the Market, but nothing mandatory that I personally noticed...

I know the one of the main was City ID on the Incredible, but there were some others. I can't remember since it has been so long since I rooted. Believe I also understand Amazon MP3 and several others reside there. City ID is the worst because it is a 30 day demo initially transitioning to a $2 a month service and it is almost impossible to get rid of the app and turn it off. It basically pushed you towards forcing the $2 fee.

The droids are loaded with crapware the newer the device the more crap. It is similar to windows junking up there o.s and you having to pay best buy 40 bucks to remove it .

Add/remove programs is a good friend to you in this situation, but I can understand the point.

On the newer droids you have to root to remove crapware and then you have to reinstall them or your update will fail to go through....it literally check you system files to make sure you did not delete the crapware or you cant get an update. That is verizon's doing not android.

Can you give some examples? Like I said, this is the first I've heard of this. I have the Eris, my sister has the Incredible, and a co-worker has the Moto Droid 1... Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Your complaint is very broad, so I'm curious what you're talking about, or what may have been added recently.

Like I had listed, City ID is one of the primary culprits. It can't be removed without rooting. I think PC will have a more concise list than me, but there were about five plus apps you actually cannot just delete like typical apps. They are burned into the system.

For the droid 2 I have city id, kindle, blockbuster, needforspeed, and like 5 other pointless apps I never use. See android install apps on your system files and the user do not have access to that unless you root. Root gives us access to the system files so we can tweak our device or just remove bloat. I have a droid 2 and the newer the droids the more crap they put on it. If I delete that bloat I can not get a system update from verizon. So the only way is to freeze those apps which will keep them from running in the background and free up memory. The unfreeze the when the update is ready.
