Press and hold the icon for the app, all your apps will start to wiggle and have an x in the upper right corner, tap the x and it will ask if you want to delete after you delete it hit the home key and the apps will stop wiggling and the x's will be gone

What about apps like STOCKS and YOUTUBE, that I am NEVER going to use, can I get rid of these?

Well I hadnt tried those preinstalled apps so after reading your post I tried and I dont really know, sorry.
I actually took all the ones I dont use and put on another screen myself.

if you're jailbroken you could get sbsettings and hide unwanted apps. that's what I did.
