Either way... you iPhone won't "Automatically" update itself. Yes, when an OTA update is availalbe a notification badge will show up on the Settings icon. However, it's up to you to not hit the update button in your iPhone's settings.

Thanks guys. Yea I was afraid that it would pop up and ask at night and if I didn't respond it would automatically update.

Nope... you have to physically touch the Update button for the process to begin. :-)
