Video Shows Wireless Charging on the iPhone 4S

Boy Genius Reports writes that a man in the UK has managed to work out how to charge his iPhone 4S wirelessly, as you can see from the above video. Tanveer Islam, who is in London, used a Powermat to achieve wireless charging on his iPhone 4S, without the use of any sort of extra casing.

“There are wireless charging options out there such as the powermat system but they all involve slipping on a jacket around the iPhone,” said Islam. “I wanted to internalize the technology so that the beauty of the iPhone is not hidden away! It’s taken a while to complete but it’s finally done.”

Well done that man! It wasn’t easy to achieve though, and as BGR explains, it took a lot of technical know-how from Islam, and involved taking both the Powermat receiver and iPhone 4S apart. As BGR notes, Apple is supposed to be working on bringing its own version of wireless charging to a future version of the iPhone, so maybe this will give them some ideas!
