T-Mobile will start selling iPhone Nano SIM cards this October

T-Mobile is the only major US carrier that does not offer the iPhone on American territory and has been under enormous pressure to do so. Their efforts to get the iPhone still haven’t yet paid off, since the company hasn’t received the green light for Apple to start selling the device.

Even so, the carrier seems to rely on in its campaign of encouraging customers to buy unlocked GSM phones directly from Apple, and then use T-mo's service with it. Those phones can then be used in their HSPA+ network. New information coming from us via an internet document shows that T-Mobile has requested iPhone 5 Nano-SIM cards and that the shipping is expected to arrive somewhere in mid October. At the moment Nano-SIM cards are only known to be compatible with the iPhone 5, but because T-Mobile is still struggling to build its own 4G LTE network, it’s relying on its slower more rudimentary HSPA+ network. The cards will be made available for purchase at ”Care, Retail, and T-Mobile.com.”

The unlocked version of the new iPhone will probably become available to interested customers sometime after the locked version starts selling in stores across the country. Prices start at $649 but go up to $849 depending on the memory storage size shoppers opt for.

So far the 4G LTE service is available via T-Mobile in selected locations like New York, Las Vegas and Seattle, but the carrier plans to expand their services to other important cities in the United States by the end of the year.
