iPhone 5 monument unveiled in the memory of Steve Jobs in Russia

The iPhone just turned 6 years this week, so the device received a few tributes, aimed to celebrate the innovation the smartphone brought into our lives. But Russian fans went a little beyond posting some videos online or writing articles about the day when Steve Jobs unleashed the iPhone upon the world.

Reports coming from St. Petersburg bring news that an interactive iPhone 5 has been setup in the city in order to bring tribute to the co-founder and former Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The monument is colored in black and from the photographs discovered online, it appears to be higher than the average person. Because its design was based on the iPhone 5, the monument features an interactive screen where passers-by can watch slideshows of photographs and videos in high-resolution.

The presentation offers glimpses from the life of Steve Jobs and even some of his speeches are presented. The screen appears to be touch screen and some text is accompanying the images and the videos. The text can be also translated in different languages, so if you are a tourist in St. Petersburg don’t hesitate to go check the monument out. The memorial is situated in the courtyard of the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.

The monument also provides free Wi-Fi for visitors and its embedded camera can snap images of Apple fans coming in to pay tribute to Steve Jobs. The pictures can then be synchronized with the persons’ social networking accounts. The giant iPhone 5 has also been customized to survive temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius.
