Apple Retail Store Genius Bars Still Having to Replace Some iPhone 4s With iPhone 4Ss
9to5 Mac follows up on its own mid-April story today with the news that Genius Bars in Apple Retail Stores are still having problems with iPhone 4 stocks, meaning that should you take a faulty one into the store and need it replacing at the Genius Bar, you may get a newer iPhone 4S instead. Back in April, the Genius Bars were facing stock shortages of the white 16GB GSM iPhone 4s, so were having to replace them with 16GB white iPhone 4S models. Now, it would appear, those stocks have been replenished, and instead it is the black 16GB and 32 GB iPhone 4 models that are in short supply in some stores, and so in those stores where that is the case, employees have been instructed to give the customer a brand spanking new iPhone 4S, complete with Siri, the A5 chip, and the 8MP camera, all to replace their old, lower spec iPhone 4. That’s quite an upgrade for the lucky ones that manage to get it!
