Firmware connection help

Alright, after playing with my 3gs for a couple days now I have retrieved all my apps. I successfully backup with icloud. However when I plug the iphone into my itunes it gives me a text " this computer has previously been synced with an iphone or iOS device " . I ran diagnostics on itunes and I noticed that the connection with firmware update server was unsuccessful. I am thinking this is my problem keeping me from backing up and syncing on my pc itunes. I have gone into my windows firewall and checked itunes on and off, enabling it to get by. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

do you have any other idevices you sync with the computer?

I do sync my girlfriends phone to this computer on her account. I did hook my phone up to another computer in an attempt to jailbreak my phone again. I'm pretty sure it didn't not sync with his computer although as soon as I plugged it into my computer again, another music play list showed up in my itunes home share. I don't know if this would have any affect on my itunes not syncing.
