I was just looking for a few tips on data usage. When I am on a app on my network how do you know that the app isn't using data all the time? Does it automatically stop using data when you go back to your home screen?
The data spinner is on the top status bar. Not all apps will use data and most not all the time.
iPhone4 keeps me in touch with my woman. Whats more important? Nothing.

So once on the home screen most will be closed. I no I can double click the home button and close the manually, but that gets old every time I change apps.
Unfortunately the multitask feature cannot be toggled on and off so if you have an app that uses data running in the background such as maps, you will be using data. However, if you have a jailbroken phone, you can download a tweak to disable the multitasking feature
I don't think there are any apps that use data in the background besides skype.... Pandora only uses data when you are listening.
