I'd hazard a guess that you need to do a reset. Hold the on/off button and the home button for at least ten seconds.

tried that,wont work.i got the iphone into recovery mode.i do restore in itunes but it gets half way and freezes.with white apple and white loading bar

i have a similar problem. But i just cant restore my iphone 3Gs version 4.2.1. itunes detects my device. i click restore and update but a window pops up saying cant restore due to unknown error 3005. Ive tried a lot of stuff, obviously not enough since its still fecked. Any ideas?

that's a really good question, I have been trying all day.. I reset my iPhone and it is doing the same thing.

download and use RecBoot, used on my phone when it got stuck on that logo.
remember when using windows 7 to run as administrator...
