    newbie help - hangs on rotation circle after ultransn0w install and hit Springboard

    Hello,
    I'm a newbie and need some help.
    I've done some searching and can't find exactly what my problems are.

    I inherited a iPhone 3G from my brother.it's been jailbroken and has Cydia on it, how it was JB'd I don't know.
    it is locked to Rogers.
    I do not have the rogers SIM for it, but I do have a working Telus SIM, that I just got my plan transferred to.

    I tried to unlock it yesterday, but I don't think it was successful.
    after installing ultrasn0w,
    it says "install complete" I press on the "Springboard," it goes into the infinite rotating circle
    then I can only get out by holding the home and power button.
    after a few minutes, I power back on,

    when I put the Telus SIM in
    gives me "Different SIM detectedd" please connect to iTunes
    and will says keypad "emergency call"
    I can see my network provider and the signal.... ie. says TELUS upper left-hand corner

    I can't do anything else, can only go into these 2 "screens"

    if I take out the SIM I can go into the settings.

    version is 3.1.3
    modem firmware is 5.12.1
    which from readings is compatible to unlock with ultrasn0w
    I have "enable 3G" on
    do I need to reset "network settings"?


    I've tried removing ultrasn0w and reinstalling.
    also tried bypassing pressing the Springboard and doing a reboot by pressing home+power button.

    any clues on where to go next?
    how far away am I from using it as a phone, please?

    added info for troubleshooting.

    I just tried, I can call into the iPhone, answer it and talk and hear!
    but I still can't get past the only 2 screens:
    the
    "Different SIM detected, please connect to iTunes"
    and "emergency call" screen

    it does show my provider Telus in upper left hand corner.

    what step or configuration might I be missing? or need to do?
