Bloomberg Businessweek reports today on a fascinating teardown and pricing of the 16GB iPhone 4's individual components by market research firm iSuppli. According to iSuppli, the Retina screen is the phone's most expensive component, costing $28.50. iSuppli said that it's most likely that the Retina screen was made by LG Display. They also investigated the gyroscope chip which is designed to detect the iPhone 4's movement in three dimensions for more realistic gameplay, saying that it was supplied by Geneva-based STMicroelectronics at an approximate cost of $2.60, and they also spyed an accelerometer chip which cost approximately $0.60. iSuppli says that the touch-sensitive glass covering the display is probably made by Wintek in Taiwan and TPK-Balda, a joint...
According to a recent email received by an iPhoneinCadnada.ca reader, Steve Job confirms the iPhone 4 launch in Canada is still on track for the end of July release. Rogers, Telus and Bell will all be carring the new phone, however none of the big three have announced pricing or availability.
Chalk another one up for the record books. The iPhone 4 launch has now been confirmed as the most successful product launch ever! According to Apple, over 1.7 Million iPhone 4 have made their way into consumers hand within the first three days of sales. Wow, that number is just astonishing! Check out the full press release below:

Late photo of Steve Jobs emailing people on the iPhone 4 issues
rfbandit, a reader from MacRumors, emailed Steve Jobs about the reception issue with the iPhone 4. He inquired him about giving away free Bumper cases to iPhone 4 owners. In response, he received a message back that makes me wonder if Steve has been taken over by a monkey on a computer(hence the picture above).
The answer to the reception issue is this:
First he tells us to buy Bumpers from Apple and now theres no issue. I guess we will have to wait and...

Rene Ritchie, TiPB, posted an interesting article today with an answer to something I was trying to find out myself. He connected his iPad Camera Kit to his iPhone 4 to see if it would work. It did NOT.
When he plugged it in he got the "This accessory is not supported by iPhone" message.
Now this is a little odd because the iPad runs 3.2 while the iPhone 4 runs iOS4 with a lot of the same specs(if not better). You would assume Apple to allow this for us to view our pictures on the beautiful Retina display:iphone4vert:. But nope, not yet at least.
The guys over at Mobile1Up set up a Lemmings "live-development" blog while there was work being done to make, well, Lemmings for the iPhone. It took them only 36 hours to make a full port and it looks great!
For those of us who remember Lemmings, and to the newbies, we will all enjoy the game as it comes out for the price of Free!
Experienced Jailbreakers all know, Spirit is the easiest way to Jailbreak your iPhone. Well, what we thought would take a little longer, is almost here. A Tweet from MusicNerd today said the following:
What is this? well it's a High Resolution screenshot of Cydia on the beautiful Retina display! No release date has been set yet but we should be expecting it very soon.
This is a really neat work-around that allows you to use Facetime on your iPhone 4 without having to have a wireless connection. It utilizes a tethering solution so you'll need to have tethering turned on with AT&T. Jailbroken iPhone 4's might find a workaround for this without having to pay AT&T for tethering.
Macworld has done tests comparing all of the top smartphone's cameras to each other. The tests were performed on photo and video quality for each phone. Just for comparison, they threw in some point-and-shoot cameras as well as a Flip camera(for video tests).
Ever since the announcement of the 5 MP camera and the great light sensor that it uses, I was a bit skeptical on how well it will compare to other smartphones. Well, here I become a believer.
The iPhone 4 ranked on top of the smartphone cameras compared to the Droid X, HTC EVO 4G, Samsung Galaxy in both photo and video. The only thing stopping the iPhone 4 were the non-smartphone devices.
